An Open Letter to the Girl who is Afraid to Start…

Have you been dreaming of  starting up your own business, blog or side hustle? What is holding you back?

I want you to know that whoever you are, wherever you are, however old you are, you can do it! Whatever it is that you are dreaming of I truly believe that with a lot of hard work, planning and determination you can make your dreams a reality.

Are you afraid of what other people are going to think? DON’T BE! Your true supporters will be so proud of you for taking a leap to do something that is different from everyone else. I thought the same thing before I announced my business (Luke+Ellies) but once I told people I had so much support and everyone was sharing my products as fast as I was posting about them. It was CRAZY!

You need to get out of your own way and allow yourself to chase your dreams because so many of us don’t. We grow up playing pretend, having so much creativity and not caring what people think of us. Something happens as we grow older that takes that away from us we become so reserved and nervous about how others are perceiving us. You need to let all that s*** go and fly free!

Do you have a plan for how you are going to launch your new product, blog, youtube channel, etc. but you are too overwhelmed with your to-do list to actually get it off the ground? If so you need to break it down into attainable steps that you can do everyday that will bring you closer to your end goal. Start now with what you have, where you are. Just keep propelling yourself forward and DO NOT worry about having everything perfect before you tell people about your new endeavor. Things will not be perfect when you start out and you will look back at all the mistakes you made in the beginning. This is a big part of starting your own biz, side hustle, blog, etc. I can guarantee that no one out there that has gone out on their own looks back and talks about how perfect things where in their first few months.

Are you afraid of failure? Don’t be. If you are willing to keep learning, working and persevering I truly believe that it is impossible to fail. As long as you are going into this with an open mind, knowing that you may have to change the way things are done and you may need to invest some time into educating yourself, you will not fail. I wake up everyday telling myself that failure is NOT an option. I will do whatever it takes to make my dreams work!

So go ahead, grab yourself a big cup of coffee, sit down with your planner, and write out how you are going to get going on launching your dreams!

Here is an inspirational quote from one of my favorite 2000’s teen movies: “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game”
